Our Own Lion David Traver wins the Overall World beard and Mustache Championship in Anchorage May 24, 2009.

The Anchorage Lions Club...

The Anchorage Lions Club was Formed in June of 1944, and serves the Anchorage community in a variety of ways:

• Alaska Ride for Life.

• Covenant House / Don Fridley Golf Tournament.

• Fireweed 400

• Melvin Jones Fellowship.

• Salvation Army Bell Ringing.

• Street Clean-Up in the Spring and Fall.

• Vison Screening.

• World Beard & Moustache Championships

 

We join with other Lion Clubs for the following:

• Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

• Campabilities.

• Diabetes.

• Food Bank of Alaska.

• Great Pumpkin Festival.

• Habitat for Humanities.

• Joint Sight.

• Leader Dog.

• Melvin Jones Fellowship.

• Miners & Trappers Ball.

• Personal Energy transportation - PET.

• Pull Tab Operation at Henry's Great Alaskan Restaurant.

The Anchorage Lions Club pledges to raise $16,000 for the Lions Club International Foundation over the five years, 2007-2011.

Welcome to our new Lions.

You can donate hearing aids to the Lions by contacting Mary Hoekzema 770-9941 or E-mail.

If you need help getting eye exams and glasses, please call 566-1597 to schedule an interview.

Used eye glasses can be dropped off at any opthomologist's office, Costco and Fred Meyer stores. Used glasses will then be matched with an individual needing that priscription.
