Andrew Halcro, Independent Candidate for Governor: the alternative candidate. Here is your chance to ask serious questions, such as: what is the status of the gas line today? The role of the FBI in Alaska politics? How should we redefine our political future? A thoughtful candidate available to inform and listen.

Peter Lekisch , an important contributor to the Anchorage athletic scene, will describe, along with George Stransky, the Fireweed 400, a significant biking event in Alaska which provides finanicial support to a number of athletic events throughout the state and health organizations. He will offer information on how we can volunteer to assist in putting on this important event. Lion Jim MaGowan will introduce them.
September 22nd
Edgar Cowling will discuss the Alaska gas pipeline negotiations from the prospective of a chemical engineer with Conoco-Phillips. He will tell us about the proposed alignment of the gas line from Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks to Canada. Mr. Cowling is a significant contributor to this important issue to Alaska and its future. His wife Cindy spoke to us on Habitat for Humanity. Let's give him the same support.
September 29th
Mayor Mark Begich. Mayor Mark as he is known, will discuss the four P's: Police, Parks, Pedestrians and Parking. If you think the police are doing less than a wonderful job in protecting you from burglars, the streets from gangs, this is your chance to ask. If you think making Kincaid Park into soccer fields that will be no better maintained than our bike paths and schools, this is your chance. If you think the increased parking fees are an improper tax on drivers and not an effort to keep traffic moving on our streets, then this is your chance. If you are tired of impassable sidewalks for pedestrians in winter and think that enforcement of sidewalk clearing is a more important safety concern than smoking in bars, then this is your chance. You have 30 minutes, from 12:15 to 12:45 to ask. And if you miss it, you have only yourself to blame.
Join in the discussions in September. Bring spouses, friends, and potential members and participate in the issues of the day. In October, Jim Magowan will present speakers.
