Each Melvin Jones represents a $1,000 contribution to Lions International, and all of our club's contributions are specifically earmarked to SightFirst II. Since 1990, Lions worldwide have done more to prevent blindness and restore sight than in their previous 65 years as "knights of the blind." In a decade-and-a-half, Lions have prevented severe vision loss or restored sight to 27 million people, more than the combined populations of New York and Tokyo.

In addition to the contributions made by our Lions pictured above, both Anchorage Lions Ed Beu and Craig Kauffman made $1,000 contributions each to supplement similar contributions they have made over past years. All total the Anchorage Lions contributed $6,000 to SightFirst II this year, part of the $16,000 our club has pledged to contribute to the program over the next five years.
